Rose Kennedy was an American philanthropist and the wife of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr., and the proud mother of United States former President John F. Kennedy, United States Senator Robert F. Kennedy and also the mother of another United States Senator Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy. For her legacy, in the year 1951, Kennedy received the title of countess in recognition of her “excellent motherhood and many generous works” from Pope Pius XII.
